Ground Swell in the South Pacific / acrylic on board / 16”x20”	Running Home West of Owl's Head / acrylic on board / 18”x24”	Low Islet – Great Barrier Reef / acrylic on canvas / 36”x36” / unframed During the passage north from Cairns inside theGreat Barrier Reef, I sailed from pre dawn to late afternoon and anchored each night in a protected area. The first night was spent behind the lighthouse on Low Islet after making about 30 miles


Fatu Hiva, Marquesas / acrylic on canvas / 12”x12” / framed / sold Three thousand miles and twenty five days from the Galapagos on the longest passage of the voyage, Fatu Hiva emerged from the sea in the late afternoon. A welcome sight after so long at sea.	Kao Island / acrylic on canvas / 12”x12” / framed / sold I sailed past this isolated island on my way from Tonga to New Zealand. It was a gray brooding day. It was just off Kao that the mutiny on the Bounty took place with Bligh and his nineteen men set in an open boat , the Bounty heading back to Tahiti and eventually Pitcairn Island.	Nevis / acrylic on canvas / 12”x12” / framed / sold In the Carribean next to St. Kitts, Nevis was the first island I arrived back at for the second time. It was here I crossed my outward track and officially closed the circle and completed the circumnavigation. It had loomed large in my imagination for years as the end and completion of the dream.


Krakatoa Island / acrylic on canvas / 12”x12” / framed / sold This is the new “Son of Krakatoa” that has formed after its parent exploded in August of 1883 with a force that changed the earth’s climate for years. I sailed past it in the Sunda Strait on the passage to Jakarta.	Fishing boat Langkawi / acrylic on canvas / 12”x12” / framed On the passage up the Malacca Strait along the coast of Malaysia, these boats would often approach me at full speed, veering off across my bow at the last minute. A bit unnerving. I found out later if the fishermen had a poor catch they believed they could cut the thread of bad luck by getting another boat’s bow to cross their transom. I must have helped half a dozen of them.	Fishing Dhow, Massawa / acrylic on canvas / 12”x12” / framed / sold In one of the hottest harbors in the world, these dhows surrounded me in the anchorage. Their high angled prows and sterns were well designed for the short and steep seas that kicked up in the Red Sea.


Fishing Boat – Bali / acrylic on canvas / 12”x12” / framed I was fascinated by working vessels I encountered. This boat was beached on the north coast of Bali. It had been carrying local cargo for the village nearby.	Felucca on the Nile / acrylic on canvas / 12”x12” / framed / sold I watched and sketched these boats from the upper deck of the small cruise boat that Sandy and I took along the Nile. The constant North wind carried them south against the current and when they wanted to go the other way they folded their sails and drifted back north with the current.	Southeast Lighthouse, Block Island / acrylic on canvas / 20”x20” / framed In the cold dark of November the Southeast Light was the last sight I had of home while heading off on the first leg of the voyage. It was the first sight of home four and a half years later in a cold spring breeze as I rounded toward Great Salt Pond.


Anchored in Bora Bora / acrylic on canvas / 20”x20” / framed In a perfect lagoon, Otter lies gently at anchor in the shadow of the central mountains.	Lagoon south of Bora Bora / acrylic on canvas / 20”x20” / framed I spent a few perfect days anchored in this remote lagoon. Ashore were coconuts under the palms with a pointed husking stick planted firmly in the ground. The outer edge of the protecting reef is seen between the motus.	Key West / acrylic on board / 16”x18” / framed Sandy and I spent time in the Keys last spring visiting places where my grandparents had wintered. It was my first time visiting and the tropical water brought back memories.


Fishing Boats at Mystic / acrylic on board / 16”x18” / framed These boats reminded me of my grandfather who in his early career installed and serviced marine diesels in boats like this.	Brilliant at Mystic / acrylic on board / 16”x18” / framed During a sketching visit to Mystic Marine Museum, Brilliant was tied to one of the docks in the afternoon sun.	Trade Winds – South Pacific / acrylic on board / 18”x24” / framed In the long passages across the South Pacific the primal elements of wind, cloud and wave surrounded me. I felt I was experiencing patterns and forces that were unchanged since the beginning of the world and beyond time.


Cooks Bay – Moorea / acrylic on board / 18”x24” / framed In Moorea, Tahiti’s more beautiful sister island, Cooks bay is probably the most beautiful anchorage in all French Polynesia. Mount Rotui to the right is where the ancient Polynesian kings were buried. The drama of cloud, light and shadow over the mountains and water were endless delight.	Avana Lagoon – Rarotonga / acrylic on board / 16”x20” / framed On the northeast coat of Rarotonga is the small shallow harbor of Avana where I spent time with my sketchbook and talking to local fishermen They told me that A replica of an ancient Polynesian voyaging canoe was built by locals and sailed to New Zealand to demonstrate their long distance capabilities.	Leaving Tahiti / acrylic on board / 18”x24” / framed / sold Arrivals and departures were always emotional. The stories of Tahiti had captivated my imagination most of my life. After spending months getting to know it and making many friends, saying goodbye was bittersweet. It left me feeling empty for a few days until I refocused on the next landfall. This view is where the flat water in the lee of the trade winds gives way to the swells of the open ocean and the island is last seen in the wake of memory.

They blend here into the iconic.	Shell Beach / acrylic on board / 16’X20” / framed I walked around St. Barts and settled in the late afternoon at Shell Beach to sketch as the sun lowered over the island of Saba in the distance.


Playa Blanca, Graciosa, Canaries / acrylic on board / 15”x20” / framed Graciosa is the small northeastern most island in the canaries. I anchored in this cove after an 800 mile passage from Gibraltar. Runcible Spoon, my dingy, is tied to a rock while I hiked up the volcanic cones nearby.	Blue Cottage – Thursday Island / acrylic on canvas / 36”x36” / unframed Thursday Island was the last stop along the GBR. It was the jump off point for the passage across the Arafura Sea to Darwin. I spent a few days hiking this tropical outpost and encountered remote tin-roofed cottages in the bright hot sun.
